haha.

haha, again, it amuses me that people google my name and this is what comes up. particularly because the material in the recent past has been mass dramatic. to hell, i say! to hell! and i give you 2pac in response! sense of humor and curiosity are both sometimes intact, though the blog posts as of late would denote otherwise!

really, though, this shit is kinda fucked! like peter was saying, he’s performing whether he wants to or not! i’d love to see 2pac, but it is really a weeeeeeeeeeee bit creepster.

hair cut today. boke bowl in a second. also, sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo poverty-icious. so povertous. so povertyful. so perverted.

recap central: england, day seven: cambridge.

monday, march 8th, 2010.
We had a morning at Pret A Manger and I headed to Victoria Coach station while Sherry and Lori headed to the airport. I got directions from Tom at how to find his dorm in school, so I embarked! And then I got lost, because I didn’t have sufficient directions to get to his place. I ended up finding some internet, though, and found it… he saw me coming and grabbed me and I checked out his dorm at Cambridge. Which was really nice, I must say. Everyone gets their own fucking dorm! WTF!

The next 24 hours in cambridge would prove a bit bizarre. Tom is a freshman in college; I met him last year when he was traveling the States. He was the hostelmate of an Aussie guy I had met at SxSW who was going to Seattle right after SxSW. So we had a jolly goot Seattle adventure, and Tom left me with most high respect for him. It did not wane this time around seeing him, and it was fun, despite hanging out with a bunch of kids. A lot of people are ageists and won’t hang out with younger people… and maybe it’s because I look young… but I certainly don’t mind it. If you get along, why not? I must say, though. These British kids attending school at Cambridge, who were like, 19-year-olds, seemed a helluva lot more mature than same-aged kids in the States. Maybe it’s cause they’re at Cambridge. I dunno. But it was weird.

Anyway, so. Prior to coming, Tom had told me, “Oh yeah, come! No problems at all! I have nothing going on today!” but then the day before, he realized he had this huge dinner and party that evening, but talked to his friend who was throwing the event and got me a wristband so I could attend. Initially, someone dropped out of dinner, so I was allowed to go… so we hunted around in the fucking LABYRINTH of dorms at Queen’s College and got me a dress, some tights, and some unmatching shoes to wear (they were like, bright red)! It took forever, but it was kinda fun, and everyone was quite nice about it. But then the friend who had gotten me the wristband realized that they had miscounted the number of people who were going — and they were one short — so my dinner offer got revoked. I could still go to the afterparty, though.

So I hung out in Tom’s dorm, stealing his internet. They have to register every computer that is on the network, and each person is allowed two, so I stole one of his registered computer slots. Not sure if that’ll end up being problematic for him, but whatever. Silly Cambridge. They also have personal maids, dude! Ladies who come in and clean their rooms! WTFFFFFFFF. Oh yeah, side note. I’d brought “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter” with me to read because Grant had told me to buy it last year because it was “good American literature.” I couldn’t finish it, though. I really hated it. So I gave it to Tom.

Helen, Tom (looking really intense), and I.

Anyway, the party was afterwards, and it was at Revolution, which was the same bar that Andrew and Stu had taken me to when I first got to England. Except this one was in Cambridge. The kids had practically the whole upstairs of the bar and had one free fruity drink each, but the drinks were really drink and couldn’t even get me drunk. There was some dancing and some chatting and Tom was a most excellent and thoughtful host. I only had a couple long conversations with his friends, including this one Indian guy who was EXTREMELY good-looking, and this girl kept coming up to us and saying, “He’s quite fit, isn’t he?” which means, “He’s real good-looking, isn’t he?” but with an almost sexual undertone. I really like that term, though. It’s ALMOST as good as, “It’s a bit rubbish,” but not quite as good.

Anyh00t. Eventually there was some dancing… blah, blah, blah. But it was total like, ’90s American hip-hop. At least it wasn’t modern hip-hop!!! Everyone went back to Tom’s room afterwards and hung out, and there was this SUPER weird guy there. And Brits are weird, man. Everyone made fun of each other a LOT, and apparently this kid had tried to have sex with some girl but failed and EVERYONE knew about it. So people were asking him about it, and he was getting flustered, and he was just the weirdest guy ever. And some girl left, and he’s like, “Hey, ____, I have a question,” or something, and she’s like, “No, you are not coming back to my room with me,” and he was just like, “Oh, okay,” and that was that. It was the weirdest thing. HE WAS SO WEIRD.

Also, another guy was messing with Tom’s camera, and whereas everyone else took photos of other people, he kept taking photos of random things, like pens on Tom’s desk. And he got made fun of a LOT for it! Which was just silly. I’m not sure how much in jest the joking was, but it was still weird. Anyway, it was a fun, albeit strange, evening. But it was awesome, cause where else would I ever experience such a thing???

Tom let me sleep on his bed while he slept on the floor, which was very nice of him. Brits, man, I swear all of the ones I know go out of their way to be kind.

music revival, rudy and the rhetoric, and grieves.

in quite a many ways, sxsw has brought about a bit of a musical and magazine-nical revival in me. i suppose part of it is that i have realized i like to meet people. i have a greater yearning to be a social person than i previously thought. when i was really young i was totally the leadership, outspoken type… but then some shit happened and since then i have been kind of more of the sidelines type of person with occasional desires to be a leader. i think this dichotomy and confusion makes it very difficult to be myself sometimes. i want to be social and outgoing, and i sometimes am, but for the most part, it feels awkward and i’m not sure quite how. and it’s quite frustrating because i would love to be the sociable, PR-friendly, outgoing type of individual who can really talk and learn to sell the hell out of shit. but, as it stands now, i am just kind of fucking confused. blawrghasg.

anyway, what does liking to meet people have to do with music revival and magazine revival? i suppose what it has to do with it is the fact that i’ve realized i want to be a part of the music industry and that i should take advantage of that desire through the magazine medium since well, i don’t play an instrument and am not suitable for PR. so how else?

anyways.

tonight i went to a hip-hop show at the high dive, and it was fucking fantastic… for the most part. here is a live show review on my own accord. first time seeing any of these bitches, other than onry of grayskul (but i haven’t seen him solo either).

PIRATE RADIO (or at least i think that’s who it was)
nice name — which carries with it a lot of weight — but these guys are precisely the type of hip-hop i dislike (i mean, not that there’s only one type). simplistic, poorly lyricized… i find nothing particularly likeable about it. a bit cruel, but some other people seemed to enjoy it, so it’s just my tastes, honestly.

ONRY OF GRAYSKUL
i was told that it was well-known in grayskul that onry is not the performer, but he is the better lyricist. i would agree with this. his songs tell a story and are just fine and his rapping is just fine and dandy when the music is blaring, but when he’s singing hooks he just seems lethargic and lacking. he needs to figure out some other kind of solution. he also doesn’t engage the crowd… barely looks them in the eye and all that. i mean, he can rap… but good lyricism and rapping skills honestly only take you so far. the performer side is quite important — if not often MORE important in this day and age.

RUDY AND THE RHETORIC
rudy makes the beats and rhetoric does the rhymes. let me just say that i think rudy is amazing — particularly his new stuff for their upcoming album, gutter brook. the beats are … oh oh oh so good. they are obviously influenced by electronica and sometimes even funk… and can i say? they are just fucking good. the only thing i’d say is that while rhetoric can throw up a good performance (better than on disc, i think), there needs to be a little bit more diversity in the delivery.

TYPE
hmm, well, his songs are interesting lyrically but are terribly, terribly juvenile. half of them are talking about his penis or shit like going to the lusty lady, and evidently, he says the same shit during every show, and around in the same order. i mean, that’s lame shit if it’s true. not down with pre-scripted shit… :| that being said, some of the songs are good, particularly if you like the dancey, good-feeling type of stuff :)

GRIEVES
i love love love… love love love grieves. he is goofy as fuck and an extremely good performer, even if he looks like he is 16 (i mean, i’m not one to talk… not at all). i actually bought his album… first hip-hop album i’ve bought in a long time. lol. years. like… four or five or six of them. quite funny moments on stage… i’ll post a video or two soon. but yeah, there’s a reason, i think, that he was the headliner.

also, there was this girl there who was a huge fan of rudy and the rhetoric and grieves — knew all of the lyrics to all of their songs. it was nuts. she was dancing like a mofo. i’ll post a video of that soon, too.

sensual seduction – snoop dogg!!!!

hahahah rhoah oahohoahroaohroh.

so i watch BET in the mornings probably… 3 out of 7 days a week because like, my favorite show in high school, “the wayans bros.” is on for an hour in the mornings. but right after wayans bros. ends are BET music videos, and two days in a row they’ve started it off with this beauty.

snoop can pretty much do whatever the fuck he wants. but yeah, this video is bomb. the song is just funny. but you know what’s even better? this is the PC version. the actual version is called: SENSUAL ERUPTION!!!!!! — thanks to lingo for the mp3. available upon request. holla ^__^

funny things, reported from u-district.

i’m at pochi’s and some japanese exchange students are staying with a family.

FAILED ATTEMPT TO MAKE CONVERSATION WITH EXCHANGE STUDENTS:
mom (immigrant filipina): do you know yakkie chan?!
dad (african-american): jackie chan! he’s not japanese — he’s chinese!

i also waited in line at the department of licensing for an hour and a half today but uhhhhhhhhhh. turns out that’s not where you go to renew your tabs :L what a waste of time. i did get to eavesdrop on a lot of conversations, though, and am yet again convinced that people who drive suvs are assholes. there were like 2 dudes there who drove suvs and were driving on suspended licenses. lol? one of them got his car impounded. narb.

damn, i need to start carrying around a notebook like i said i would cause there was something else funny that i don’t remember, but i thought at the time: damn, i need to write this down!!!!!

here’s something else funny: my coworker, summer, is quite literally from compton. rofls. who is actually from compton!! she is a first!

i received a bunch of hip-hop cds in the mail today. one of them was a lil jon album HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.

dog poop everywhere! AAAH! & redman show

currently watching… some weird mystery show on the hallmark channel. “murder she wrote” is on next, heh.

thursday, august 16th, 2007
got my magazines back today — only 35 of them, but they look ama-freaking-zing!!!!!!! on the downside, though, i have to print more asap… blargh!

this past week lenny and i played like 13 hours of “guild 2″ because we finally got the shit working. and it was most exciting. that game is micro-management death, though, but it seems hard as hell to program (not that i know anything about programming) but everyone in the game has their own artificial a.i. and every computer character that you don’t control still interacts with one another. basically the point is your family has to win via violence, politics, or economic means and wipe out all the other families. werd.

we’ve also finally been playing a little bit of “company of heroes,” which is, of course, always great!

friday, august 17th, 2007
after work, went with hsuhan and rachel to what was supposed to be the mf doom show. he actually was replaced by redman, though… i don’t know why! sean cee was spinning that night. they had the most annoying announcer who kept interrupting everyone. bleh. redman was a lot better than anticipated. the show was “sneaker pimps,” sponsored by k-swiss, and basically they get a bunch of shoes painted by artists and stuff. parskid was there painting a giant shoe. like, it was huge! it sucked because i brought my camera but i forgot to bring a memory card with it, so i didn’t get to get any shots of it. bleh. was going to for magazine purposes but i guess i ended up paying $18 just for the entertainment. the MC was a fucking idiot and sucked ass. he kept calling parskid “mars one” HAHHAHAHA and sean cee “c – something” (who is actually sean’s friend from texas). what an idiot. after the set, redman sat on stage smoking a blunt. hah. rachel got her shoe signed by him and i gave him my business card and told him to check the mag. i doubt if he will. but we’ll see. all these hoes were scribbling their numbers on his hand. like he’s going to call your ass. haha. he’s funny though — he was high as fuck and at one point he put a towel on his head AND put on a hoodie and looked ridiculous. he also had this fat gold chain which he kept taking off and people would get all excited thinking he was going to throw it out, but really he’d just flip it over and put it back on. again and again. HAHAHAHAHA. most funny.

afterwards we went to purple dot, which was alright… i think they switched a chef or something because shit doesn’t taste the same lately… but i’m not sure.

saturday, august 18th, 2007
lenny and i were supposed to wake up and go to fort casey but as usually we got up too late. bleh. i woke up at eight am too because aeryn came over because he had to get a tape recorder before warped tour, but still, tried to take a short nap and get up again and it just didn’t happen. i don’t know why i need to sleep so much these days. it’s weird.

sunday, august 19th, 2007
again was going to go to fort casey but the weather was bad when we woke up in the morning so we decided not to go. instead, there was a fucking poop nightmare at lenny’s mom’s house. omfg. lewis and taylor ran upstairs and i guess taylor was in the middle of pooping and decide to give a shake (the kind a dog does after being wet) and poop went flying all over the carpet, wall, clothes, backpacks, bedsheets, everything, everything, everything!!!!! … everything!! and it wasn’t the dry kind of poop — it was like the consistency of dog food. it was gross. disgusting. had to wash a load of clothes after that, heh, and get the carpet cleaned, and windex the walls… then i gave taylor a bath and it’s the first time i’ve given a dog a bath but i got soaking wet because he kept trying to escape. that bitch. and then somehow in that process i got poop all over my pants. blarghhhhh!!!!!! but i didn’t know it yet. so i went downstairs and all i could smell was poop for some reason. bleh! lenny let lewis outside and then as lewie was coming in i saw his ass and it was covered with poopy! covered!!! so we’re like AAAHHH! and lenny took lewis to get a bath. i was like, “no wonder i smelled poop!” and then i put some clothes in the laundry and then looked at my pants halfway thru the laundry being done and finally saw that i had poop on my pants. and again i was like, “no wonder i smelled poop!” it was a nightmare. stupid dumb dogs. taylor is such an idiot. he was like running around in circles after i gave him a bath, chasing his own tail and barking at it, and then smelled lenny’s mom’s clothes and just peed on it. not a moment of thought. so bizarre. i don’t understand at all. then later i was eating pizza and watching “survivorman” and all i could do was get dog hair on my pizza and in my mouth. i’m not even sure how that happens — i never even put down the fucking pizza, i was holding it the whole time. bleaghhhh!! no doggies for me for a little bit lol. at least not long-haired ones. or idiots. sick.

(poop shown is about … 1/4 of the poop that was splattered across the room… and splattered is probably the best description for it too!)

first half of september 2006.

i’m watching… n/a
i’m feeling…
ok.

“it’s been a long time… i shouldn’t have left you… without a dope beat to step to.” mmm this needs updating, and today is the day.

so what’s new? mmm, a lot of things, really. moved to bellevue with lenny and andy [crossett]. it’s not bad. everyone thinks moving in with your bf is such a big deal. i don’t know… oddly enough to me it doesn’t really seem much like anything. it still feels about the same most of the time, lol. but i’m weird.

i’ve been reading andy’s haruki murakami book, “hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world,” and it is amazing thus far. almost done with, so i hope the conclusion is a worthwhile one. definitely one of his better books i’ve read… right up there with “wind-up bird” if you ask me. very fantasmical. i enjoy.

time to recap the month…
august 28th or so — moved into new apartment. moving was a bitch, but at least we got to move in early :D
august 30th — i got stuck with moving out of our old apartment responsibilities lol. which was all fine and dandy but then i find out when i go there that there is a FUCKLOAD of stuff that needs throwing out aagh! and to my dismay: NO TRASHBAGS. luckily our neighbor who i have met once or twice lent me some trash bags and some awkward small talk also happened awrrghhhashh awkward small talk!! >_< also… plastic bags filled to the max required numerous trips down without plastic bags, since i only got two from them. and oh yeah knives in one of the plastic bags = stabbing mcstabbersons. but asides from that uh, it’s all good?
saturday, september 2nd — bumbershoot’s first day. hmm, what did i see, i barely even remember. oh yes. parked in queen anne cause that’s the best place to park for bumbershoot in my book — cheap / free and close! anyways, we were walking to the venue and two guys stopped lenny and i on the street asking if we knew who panic! at the disco was. from there they went on this rambling ramble about the music scene, with one younger guy (23? i think he was?) saying some shit about how the seattle music scene was changing because there were big hip-hop people like the blue scholars, bah bah bah, and bah bah bah, and his friend who was ten years older (or probably more than that) was arguing something else… it seemed like they weren’t even arguing about the same thing, but nonetheless, they were really into the shit, so whatever floats their freaking boats. yeaup. ended up giving them a copy of my mag and the older guy said he’d e-mail and that he thought it was cool / interesting and that he always wanted to get into writing, but that hasn’t happened yet!

anyway, onto the venue, mmm… started out by going towards the exhibition hall where there was a bitchy staffs person, and started to watch the thermals and was unimpressed, so we left. then we headed over to watch some film festival one reel thing, and that was pretty cool. it was like 8 short films… one was a failed pilot episode of some hbo show called “the pity card,” with zach galfinikas (or whatever) in it… it was really funny… then some thing about how this one type of squid hatches its eggs like stars (rather than burying them in the ground), and then there was this documentary spike lee made about al gore that was never publicized because someone democratic exnayed it, but it was really kind of amusing, and a few others i don’t quite remember so well… .. . hmm! time to consult lenny for a refresher: wallyball, playing volleyball with people at the united states and mexican border (hitting the volleyball over the fence). there was also another one where a guy gave away oranges and asked people if they were anyone’s favorite person, and it showed three different responses… iono.

after that we went to check out the rubber band dance group at some theatre and it was hip-hop mixed with ballet kind of thing. the northwest ballet people SUCKED. the first part of the rubber band dance group was awesome, one really cool thing with music by the rza or some wutang person, and another light-hearted one with very hawaiian-sounding music and lots of footwork (but not a lot of upper-body work), playing on the idea of a girl who bullies around a guy or something. i don’t remember. some really good stuff, though, except the piece they ended with was the lamest. why they did that, i’m not so sure.
monday, september 4th — i obviously don’t remember what happened on the 3rd, lol. on the 4th, went to bumbershoot again… free tickets, i mean, why the fuck not? it was my first time going. i think it’s well worth it, honestly… as long as you’re open to looking at more than just music. the other stuff balances it well, i think. anyways. went with lenny and jennifer [villaruz] — we were supposed to see metric before, so i thought, hey, we should see metric this time and i gave her a free ticket. i also had two extra tickets which i ended up selling (with the help of jenn) for $20 apiece. good shit. :D now to make up the other $200,000 i’ve lost from magazine printing lol! jk. le sighs. speaking of magazine printing, going to put together a mock glossy copy with low run distro of 30 and try to get distro deal… ingram distributors has expressed interest if they can see it in glossy format. they’re one of the biggest. the implications of that? i’m not so sure.

anyways, went there and saw copeland right away. they were… okay. kind of boring, to be honest. honestly, i don’t think i was expecting much better anyways. they were good for about 1/2 and then it was like, “god this hour is too long.” at least his voice got better. it started off really scratchy and out of pitch and bad. after that, we went went to go see go like hell in the EMP. nice venue; i think they remodeled it or something, cause it didn’t seem so nice when we went to see jimmy eat world there back in like, i dunno, shit, 2002 or something. damn, time flies by fast. anyways, go like hell was okay. their singer chick had an awesome raspy voice, but punk seriously bores me… one guy was wearing no pants and a thong. hot. after that, went to the main stage to see atmosphere. fucking boring, but it was cool how into it the crowd was… they were totally waving their arms in unison and oh yeah, a load of them freaking went there and waited like 3 hours in advance, wtf! so they basically went to bumbershoot to see one thing or something. crazy. hardc0re! extreme! atmosphere’s stuff was okay during the songs with live bands, but the others were whatevers. halfway thru atmosphere’s set, left to go see feist, and she wasn’t bad… talked a lot, though. i don’t really care if people talk… they are, after all, the artist, and they are more than just a robot, but these two chicks there with their husbands were downright livid. they were like, “she talks to much! i don’t want to be here!” one of them wanted to leave feist’s set halfway to go see metric, but her bf was like, “i want to stay here,” and she’s like, “BUT I HAVE NEEDS TO!” lol, it was amusing. anyway, halfway thru feist’s set, we left to see metric, and metric was SO GOOD. it is one of the only shows i’ve been to in seattle where the whole crowd was actually moving and dancing and into it. there was this one raver dude there who was totally full-fledged into it and dancing his ass off, and it was awesome. i think some people were making fun of him and he left, but i’m not entirely sure, actually. or maybe he THOUGHT people were making fun of him and left when they weren’t. shrug. it was fucking awesome, though, even if most of the songs they played were NOT songs i was familiar with, it was easy to get into it. go metric.

oh yes, i should mention that i got cut from my city of kent job. so uberly lame mclamers. basically… dea had told me that i could start full-time whenever i wanted, because sacha went out early. well, obviously, i took on some responsibilities i needed to finish up. she wasn’t supposed to be going out until late october, but instead, she went out the end of august. i was going to start full-time towards the middle of september, since i had planned to go home from september 6th to the 10th and we had decided that really early on when they worked up a schedule and forced me to stick to it, but nOo then the bitch is like, “we need someone full-time now, so peace…” and btw she didn’t say it to my face, arian from big fish told me. fucking lame ass shit, dude. i really think it’s cause vince was pushing to keep me around but then he got a better job and left, so she’s like whuteva, i don’t need to keep her around anymore. biatch. sOo yeah now i am looking for a job again… hoping to get a job @ evogear, so uh hopefully i hear back from them about the second interview soon? :/

le sighs. for now, i am doing some contract bullshit work for microsoft, some freelance crap, and working almost full-time at volt (for this week anyway), so we’ll see. at least i still have money coming in, lol, and big fish owes me 1k plus. so yeah. whuteva. bitches.

i’ve become a clotheshorse lately. how lame. is that what it’s come down to?!!! :(
tuesday, september 5th — went to a drum n’ bass show with tony [cordova] and yuki and nate [davis] showed up too! yay! good stuff. well, okay, let me rephrase: okay stuff. we went to see pendulum. not the biggest fan, i’ll be honest. couldn’t really get into their beats, but the war room was cool. haha tony and yuki went out to get some beer out of my car, and turns out they missed the end of the set without even knowing it. eediots. and we went to jack in the box afterwards and they were making some loud ass gay jokes in the car and the guy at the window was gay :( and then i was like sorry for the rowdiness, and he just shook his head. hukkkk. :( bOoOo so mean. anyways. yes, pendulum was just okay. hopefully aaron simpson & zacharia tag team this friday the 22nd will be much better. i can’t imagine that it wouldn’t. CAN’T WAIT. hopefully no one flakes out on me!

bleh so tired of talking to PR people!
wednesday, september 6th – went home… lenny had to leave work hella freaking early for it, but yeah. the initial trip — aka as soon as i got off the plane — was filled with buttloads of bitching about my clothes, my job, etc. — luckily, that subsided for the rest of the trip. surprisingly, actually. but yeah, went home, went to eat food, cause that’s what we do, and that’s that.
thursday, september 7th — went to sherry’s and hung around her house. didn’t do too much. :D went home and went to eat at some NASTY ASS FUCKING RESTAURANT. which my parents were raving about. but it was sOoOo not good — nothing had flavor. they soon came around and agreed with me. cause it was gross. man. went to go look @ phil’s cats. or maybe that was thursday, i don’t know. but they had these two little cats, cept now they are kind of full-grown, so it was not as exciting. one of them was like retarded and incapable of eating food, though — every time it ate food, it’d spit it out again and pick it up again and spit it out again (on accident). they feed their cats bread. WTF?
friday, september 8th — drove around the bay area taking photos of sushi restaurants — from oakland to alameda to hayward to san leandro to blah to san ramon… yeah. almost got the hook-up with a family friend’s restaurant of san ramon, but not enough time :( so that fell through. damnit… need tutorials T__T the number of visitors to sushimonsters has been declining. BAD. VERY BAD. it’s cause i’m the only asshole who works to get traffic. godamnit. anyway, at nighttime, went with dahye to xinlei’s house to play poker. lost ten bucks. shit i think i barely won any hands at all. it was quite pathetic, actually. a couple of xinlei’s friends were there, and she totally lives in the sticks of walnut creek. hella fucking far from the freeway, and she still pays more in rent than us in bellevue! yay! fuck the bay area. i can’t think of a reason to live there (minus friends maybe), really. maybe if i were blinging out of my ass.
saturday, september 9th — went to the winchester mystery house with xinlei, her bf matt, and sherry. it was uhhhh okay. not as exciting as i had remembered it to be. honestly? i think i confused some dream i had with reality or something, because i distinctly remembered this one area, but… it… didn’t exist. yeah. i am a freak :( HOOOO T_T anyways. i ordered some clothes from ebay. where the fuck are they! godamn my clotheshorseness! anyways, there was also this “behind the scenes tour” which was a couple bucks more, so we took it, and it was a little more exciting… showed us the basement and coal shoots and how the elevators worked and stuff… yeah. sherry said they should have had the behind the scenes take place first, and i think she is right! oh well, though. dude, they had an arcade there with fucking mario brothers arcade game, wtf? i played the simpsons arcade game… the side-scrolling one like double dragon type. speaking of video games… alex’s ex had all of his video game consoles when they broke up so uhh now they’re all hers. that just makes me mad :X i want a nintendo bad. T__T i rhyme. went home and ate dinner with family and roxanne, and after dinner, sherry and i went to the theatre to watch “little miss sunshine” — IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME, even if steve carrell didn’t play a huge noticeable role. very cool characters who made an outrageous plot believable.
sunday, september 10th — came home. la la la. think bought groceries @ the korean market near our house, paldo world. that place is weird. they don’t sell chicken. do koreans not eat chicken!!!! although, i can’t really think of where they use chicken, minus the fried chicken you see at some restaurants. DUN DUN DUN, THE MYSTERY QUESTION: DO KOREANS NOT EAT CHICKEN!?

in other news, i don’t remember much of what happened each day minus a couple things: someone made us a craft sushi monster. it’s fucking pimp!!!!!!!!!!!! i’ve started playing diablo 2 again, cause it’s good for you. we don’t have a table, so we need to go buy one tomorrow @ ikea. k i guess we’re going wednesday.

i don’t think i mentioned anywhere that some day in august, lenny, posa, linh, and i went to shota sushi & grill, and we got a huge ass platter of sashimi (disgusting) and what we wanted was a godamn video of the chef preparing something, but that didn’t happen. i did try every kind of fish though, and in conclusion: aji (spanish mackeral) is pretty good, but my favorite is sockeye salmon, which is apparently weird. but whuteva! at some point we also went to isami next to uwajimaya, and that place is fucking gross.

yupyup.
friday, september 15th — crossett rented some movie called “alice” (or “neco z alenky”) by a czech director, jan svankmajer. it was AMAZING. what was also amazing was a short that was on the dvd, “darkness light darkness”. it was a bunch of body parts coming together to form a person in a tiny room — a body made of clay. AWESOME. he’s like a surreal cinema guy, so his other work used puppets, props like animal skulls, and clay to get the idea across. AWESOME. right up my alley.

saturday, september 16th — watched the fucking ong-bak sequel movie, “the protector” with posa, linh, lenny, and alex. god. it had definitely one of the stupidest movie scenes i have ever seen. jeezus man. there’s this one part where all of these EXTREME!!!! people come out and start attacking him with rollerblades on and riding bikes towards him and at some point a fucking sand buggy tractor something or other thing. SO STUPID.
sunday, september 17th — yet another movie. “the sentinel” with michael douglas and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh eva longoria and uhhhhhhh that fool from 24. i forgot his name right now. blank. it was better than i’d expected, but those kind of stereotypical action flicks always get lost in memory after time goes on…

July 20, 2005

hello… goodbye!

i’m listening to… eminem, nonpoint.

1:19 am – for those who don’t know, eminem is done. he’s over with. he’s done.

anyway. went to the hellogoodbye show yesterday with cynthia and lenny, but lenny was a boob and left early. the show was freakin awesome.

the opening bands were houston calls and jamisonparker. houston calls is whatever. mediocre. jamisonparker is better but still mediocre. but the two guys who are actually in the band (they tour with two additional ones) are freakin hot, so they got all sortsa girls goin nuts for them. the rocket summer was next… they’re co-headliners with hellogoodbye, but yeah. bryce is nuts. super happy. so happy. it’s almost freakish.

hellogoodbye is my god. to copy and paste from xanga:

“i like down-to-earth celebrities. i hate the ones that are jackasses. if a musician is a jackass or boring (ie: hot hot heat), there is much respect lost. OH YEAH.

i’m watching “surreal life” right now. carey hart ROCKS. he’s hot, and he’s just a nice dude. jose conseco is in the house and everyone is freaking out cause he went to jail and used steroids… whatever. and carey hart’s just like, “i don’t care what they’re saying because i’m assuming he’s past all that, and i just want to make an opinion for myself.” it’s good. and while everyone else is being dramatical, he’s just like… washing dishes. lol. i really… really like people who just don’t give a fuck. it’s so zen omg!

most of the time, you can tell within the first few minutes if a person is going to be a jackass.

a couple of other people… like this one girl janice… supposedly the first supermodel ever… she’s like, “WE STILL WANNA KNOW HOW YOU GOT DISCOVERED PEPA (salt n’ pepa’s pepa),” and then she just ignores her and starts checking out jose conseco’s arms and shit… and saying, “who wants to do it in the phone booth first?” wow what a bitch. I HATE BITCHES.

yesterday was the hellogoodbye show. they’re cool cause they’re goofy, but on top of that, they set up their own equipment. i hate when bands have people do their sound check for them. do you REALLY need people to do that!! it’s so stupid. how how and mighty are you? :D but it’s so rare to find a band that actually does that themselves… so hellogoodbye… so much respect. so much! especially since they’re like big enough to have their own headlining tour and stuff, and they still do it all themselves.”

yeah. they’re awesome. the last some was “touchdown turnaround” (not including encore) and they bust out water guns and inflatable blow-up props and stuff and diving into the crowd. it rocked. forrest is cute. not physically. just mannerismly. rawr.

after the show i stopped by to talk to bryce of trs real quick… and it was awkward. basically it was like this:
v – hi bryce, i just wanted to say hi to you since i interviewed you a few months ago (i left some copies @ the table prior to the show).
b – was it this?
v – yeah.
b – i remember that.
v – cool.
(silence)
v – good show.
b – what?
v – nice show.
b – thanks.
v – you’re so happy!
b – *shrug…

and that was that. i guess you don’t really have anything to say to “you’re so happy!” but usually they say SOMETHING else. yeah. so i just left real quick cause he wasn’t making me happy :D

today was a day of basically nothing except for dropping off mags / putting resumes and press kits together. boring.

September 10, 2002

what a random.

i’m listening to… a jay zhou song i forgot the name of [mandarin] and “losing grip” bai avril lavigne [rock].
i’m feeling… blah.

10:34 pm — i really want to go to taiwan or hong kong… sigh.

i cooked today. and swam. what a random. i’m so sick of the cd’s i have here… ugh… should have brought more home -__-; and more hip-hop and rock… less elektronika… blech. i’m getting so desperate i am listening to music on people’s asianavenue pages! come on now.

dude the other day i was talking about the new missy elliot song and no one knew what the hell i was talking about! come on now… -__-; wtf. going to the sf museum of modern art tomorrow because it is motherfucking free… wOohOo! ^__^

hmm and i hate pop-ups >__< chol, josh, seungbum, and two of seungbum’s friends are coming down next week… huk ~ we’ll see how that goes. dude… i’ve been watching so much freaking simpsons lately it’s ridiculous =__=;; it’s on four times a day here man… heehee.

oh yeah man i’m so happy… i got into my intro to criminal justice class… wOohOo! ^__^ >__<;
are you aware of what you make me feel?
right now i feel invisible to you, like i’m not real
didn’t you feel me lock my arms around you?
why’d you turn away; here’s what i have to say:
am i just some chick you place beside you
to take somebody’s place?
when you turn around can you recognize my face?
you used to love me, you used to hug me
but that wasn’t the case;
everything wasn’t okay.
i was left to cry there, waiting outside there
grinning with a lost stare
that’s when i decided:
why should i care?
cause you weren’t there when i was scared; i was so alone
you, you need to listen:
i’m starting to trip, i’m losing my grip
and i’m in this thing alone…
if you don’t care, then i don’t care;
we’re not going anywhere.
* AVRIL LAVIGNE – LOSING GRIP *
dude, i don’t know how much of a fan of avril lavigne i am, but this song is so freaking dope… found it out from stumbling around on marcela‘s aa page… heh… >__< good good good stuff. better than the other songs of hers i’ve heard so far anyways. needs to be more gal rockers O_o;
